I was cruising around eBay earlier and somehow got into a list of Spider-Man books. And not far down that list I stumbled upon this book, The Amazing Spider-Man : A Book of Colors and Days of the Week. A bolt went through me when I saw it, as it was a book I grew up with.
The book was released in 1977 and my brother had it first, as he was a comic book fan from an early age. I came along in 1978, and a few years later was being read to and this was a book I remember Mom reading to me. When I got to be old enough to read myself, it was one of my favorites.
You can check out the whole thing at this handy link, but it focuses on Spidey’s adventures across a week capturing various color-themed bad guys. Each day of the week, he nabs another color-themed villain. But what the title doesn’t suggest, is that the book actually focuses on numbers as well. Each passing day, the villains grow in numbers. The first day it’s a single villain, then the next its a duo, the next a team of three, and so on and so forth.
Regardless, it’s a really fun book for kids and I’m glad I came across it again. If you have little ones, I suggest checking out the link to the eBay listing and giving it some consideration. It’s fun, it’s educational, and you have a chance to introduce them to comic books at an early age as well.
