The Night Before Christmas – Music Monday Edition

Music Monday

US Top 40 Singles for the Week Ending December 24, 1983

Getting it in just under the wire. Our LAST Music Monday chart of 2018. We end the year with McCartney and Jackson sitting atop the chart. The big debut, however, is “The Curly Shuffle” by Jump ‘N’ The Saddle Band. It’s a novelty song written by singer Peter Quinn as an homage to The Three Stooges film comedy team. It was initially recorded by Quinn’s group Jump ‘N the Saddle Band, and first released in late 1983. The timing of the recording nearly coincided with The Three Stooges receiving their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 30 August 1983. The song climbs as high as #15 in early 1984 but the band never has another hit.

Next week, I’ll put together a list of top songs from 1983 as our very last Music Monday post. For now, merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
