Just a couple of days since I posted the Pizza Hut question on the daily blog, I’m going back to the Pizza Hut well for this post. And this post is courtesy of my Alabama brother Jason at Rediscover the ’80s, as he brought this fun tidbit to my attention earlier today. You can check out the story he sent me here.
In an effort to clap back at Taco Bell and their Mexican Pizza, Pizza Hut has unveiled its “Italian Taco”. They describe it as featuring a hand-tossed taco shell stuffed with a classic marinara sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and whichever fillings you choose from pepperoni to jalapenos. It’s basically just instructions on folding a pizza over like a lot of us do anyway, to resemble a taco. It’s a tongue-in-cheek poke at their corporate teammate, but it’s still pretty cool.
So I’ve posted this to stir some discussion in the comments. First off, are you a slice folder or not? For me, it depends on where the slice is from. Chain pizzas like Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa John’s just aren’t really made for it. But when I get a slice from a local place, I usually fold it. And the second thing I want to discuss is toppings. There’s been a lot of discussions arguments about whether certain toppings belong on a pizza or not, with pineapple usually being the main topic. I personally really enjoy pineapple on pizza. Even if I’m getting a supreme or deluxe I’ll sometimes add pineapple to it. For me, if a topping tastes good on a pizza, then it’s fair game. But what about you? What do YOU like on your pizza? Drop that in the comments, along with folded or not folded as a preference. And don’t forget what has spurred all of this nonsense in the first place…the Mexican Pizza is back at Taco Bell. Got get five or six of them.
